From 23rd September the minimum income floor will apply after a 12 month grace period to all ‘gainfully self-employed’ who make a new claim for Universal Credit. This means that the DWP will work out your entitlement to Universal Credit based upon how much you would earn in a minimum wage job working the hours you do in self-employment.
This measure has already been in place since July 2019 for those who have been ‘managed migrated’ to Universal Credit beforehand.
