Our Tenancy Sustainment team – helping you claim pension credit
We teamed up with Gloucester City Council to write to 95 GCH customers currently on Housing Benefit asking them to contact our Tenancy Sustainment team for advice and support around claiming Pension Credit. Following the recent changes to the Winter Fuel Allowance eligibility, we’ve worked closely with the Council to maximise take-up of this benefit.
The very first customer to call the Tenancy Sustainment team found he was entitled to almost £80 per week pension credit. What’s more, where eligible this can be backdated by up to three months, opens up entitlements to other passported benefits like Housing Benefit and Council Tax support, and automatically awards the Winter Fuel Payment.
You must apply for Pension Credit by 21 December, and your claim be backdated to the qualifying week between 16th and 22nd September 2024, so it’s important that you check your entitlement as soon as possible. You can of course claim Pension Credit at any time but if you don’t want to miss out on the Winter Fuel Payment, make sure to enquire with the team and apply by 21 December.
