We’re opening a new supported housing scheme in Gloucester, offering a lifeline to vulnerable young people at risk of homelessness. Hewmar House will launch in early 2025, designed to provide safe, secure accommodation along with vital support services. Ahead of this, we’ve begun a recruitment drive to fill key roles, including the appointment of a Service Lead, tasked with shaping the service and leading the team.
Funded by the Single Homeless Accommodation Programme (SHAP), the scheme aims to provide young people facing homelessness with the support they need to build brighter, more stable futures. With the backing of local authorities, housing experts, and charities, the service will offer not only accommodation but also essential life skills, mental health support, and pathways to education, training, and employment.
“"We're looking for people who are passionate about making a difference. People who can work well with others to ensure the project supports both the community and the young people themselves, giving them opportunities to thrive."
Natalie Thelwell, Director of Housing Operations
Hewmar House will accommodate eight young people aged 18-25, providing them with a nurturing environment to help them transition from crisis to stability. The service will focus on empowering these young people to gain independence by offering tailored support plans that address their unique needs.
The project will contribute to reducing youth homelessness in Gloucester, where demand for such services has been steadily increasing. The service represents a key element in the city’s efforts to combat homelessness and create positive change in the lives of vulnerable young people.
Recruitment for other roles in the scheme, including support workers and administrative positions, are open now, offering rewarding opportunities for those passionate about social change and youth development.
