As colleagues and customers come together to join the Pride in Gloucestershire celebration in Gloucester Park on Saturday 9th September, Gloucester City Homes (GCH) has shown its commitment to promoting an inclusive community by signing the HouseProud Pledge, joining numerous social housing providers to demonstrate commitment to LGBTQ+ resident equality and support.
Backing the campaign and making a commitment highlights GCH’s dedication to providing a welcoming and equitable housing environment for all residents. By embracing this pledge, GCH aims to further establish itself as a model of inclusivity within the housing sector.
“Celebrating everybody’s differences and uniqueness has always been at the heart of our organisation and our values, we want everybody to feel safe, welcome and at home with GCH“ states Guy Stenson, Chief Executive at Gloucester City Homes. “Signing the HouseProud Pledge strengthens our promise to create a safe and harmonious living space where everyone can thrive”
GCH Board Member Nilesh Bhuddia-Luke backs the commitment adding “I am delighted that GCH has joined the HouseProud Pledge which underscores our commitment to creating a safe and welcoming environment for all residents, regardless of their sexual orientation, gender identity, or expression. This important commitment holds GCH and all its colleagues to account for fostering inclusivity and support within the LGBTQ+ community, not only providing quality housing but also championing equality and empowerment.”
The HouseProud Pledge encompasses several key principles:
- Promoting Inclusivity: GCH is dedicated to creating an environment where every resident feels valued and respected, irrespective of their background, identity, or beliefs.
- Fostering Equality: GCH commits to treating all residents fairly, granting everyone equal access to services and opportunities.
- Celebrating Diversity: Recognising that the strength of a community lies in its diversity, GCH aims to build a welcoming space where uniqueness is embraced.
- Providing Safe Spaces: Ensuring that all residents have a safe space they can call
Over the following months, GCH will work towards demonstrating their commitment to the pledge and encourages customer feedback to support this journey, we are particularly keen to hear from LGBTQ+ customers keen to work with us on delivering this commitment.
