We are celebrating being named as ‘Employer of The Year’ at the Housing Heroes/Women in Housing Awards
The national industry awards held at the Chartered Institute of Housing’s conference in Manchester celebrate leaders, innovators and changemakers in the housing sector and aim to share learning across teams and individuals.
The Employer of The Year award is highly sought after and is presented to an organisation that provides an environment where individuals and teams can succeed and thrive, that invests in staff training and development whilst representing the communities it works within and demonstrates a clear culture of inclusion and innovation.
“We are so proud to have won this award, against the shortlist of six other great organisations who like us have committed to developing their colleague offer and who focus on being an inclusive workplace where diversity is valued and celebrated. We will continue to collaborate with our colleagues to ensure GCH is a great place to work, creating a culture of trust to deliver for our customers and empowering our people to realise their potential.”
“We know that great people deliver great services. As a modern, agile, purpose led social business rooted in the community our 173 colleagues are our greatest assets and advocates. We are passionate about enabling each and every one to be the best version of their authentic selves, to thrive, to dream and to aspire. We celebrate our differences, learn from our mistakes and support each other to do the right thing. As we change and adapt our business we focus on our purpose, we don’t shy away from tough decisions, but we are always kind, considerate of different perspectives and transparent in what we do and why we do it.”
Guy Stenson, Chief Executive at GCH
“It was a really great opportunity for me to experience the event, I felt very inspired during the women in housing awards. It was amazing to hear what people are doing for our sector. I haven't been in the industry very long and I feel like I’ve learnt so much from speaking with different professionals. The Conference itself really gave me an insight into the future of housing and the issues we face. It was interesting to see that others face the same issues we do and to hear how they address these and what systems they have in place"
Erin Tanswell, Customer Experience Advisor, who attended the awards
This national award bolsters GCH’s local recognition as the SoGlos ‘Best place to work in Gloucestershire 2022’ award.
GCH’s story has also been shown at the 2023 Housing Conference through the Brighter Futures news style programme. This follows on from the challenge set by Last year’s Better Social Housing Review which challenged housing associations to go back and look at their core purpose – providing decent, safe homes for those who can’t afford the market. With increasing numbers unable to afford that decent, safe home, “Brighter Futures” explores what is being done to offer a brighter future. More information here.
