It can be hard to tell if a relative, friend, neighbour or colleague is involved with a loan shark. At this time of year especially, people can fall victim to an illegal money lender.
Loan sharks can appear to be a friend or someone who has been recommended to you by a friend. They may work or live in the surrounding area and seem have your interests at heart.
We are supporting Stop Loan Sharks to share the common signs that someone might be a loan shark. Look out for
- a loan with no paperwork
- extortionate interest rates
- use of bank cards as security
- threats of violence
